Feature Products >> Injector for Alcon® Monarch® D cartridge for the AcrySof® IOL's
The new Injector (DK7797-2) for the Monarch® D cartridge allows implantation of the single piece AcrySof® IOL's. NOW FDA APPROVED
The new injector features a single handed plunger mechanism for fast, smooth, efficient delivery. To ensure a successful IOL delivery and implantation, correct loading and setting of the IOL into the cartridge is essential. Duckworth & Kent always recommends using the Loading Forceps (DK7717) which feature highly polished surfaces for easier loading without damage to the delicate IOL. The forceps correctly load the IOL into the cartridge in a pre-load position.
Once the cartridge is loaded into the injector, the tip is located into the pre-load position by pushing the plunger until it stops. The tip will hold in this position until the plunger is pushed again for the IOL delivery.
The forceps gently grip the trailing haptic whilst the 'V' notch supports the optic. Place the IOL into a cartridge that has been coated with visco elastic internally. Using the upper thin limb of the forceps, gently push the optic down onto the base of the cartridge.
Fold the trailing haptic over the top of the optic and into the cartridge using the 'V' notch of the forceps. With the forceps closed, the step in the lower limb pushes the IOL into the cartridge. The top of the step keeps the optic on the base of the cartridge.
Push the IOL until the forceps shoulder reaches the back of the cartridge. The IOL is now in the 'pre-load' position. Gently remove the forceps out of the cartridge, and then load the cartridge into the injector. Push the injector plunger until it stops, the tip will move the IOL 1-2mm further forward. Release the plunger and the tip moves back 1-2mm and will hold in this position. The injector is ready for IOL delivery.
